Two charities, one event, lots of beer. Attend CAN’d Aid and drink beer to raise money for Reno Rebuild Project and Reno Blues Society
This is a press release and includes no original reporting.
Mark your calendars and gear up for an evening of cold brews and hot blues supporting three great causes on Saturday, Sept. 20. At The Freight House District, Oskar Blues Brewery will serve Colorado craft beer and five live Blues acts will perform, beginning at 5 p.m. Rick Hammond Blues Band – semi-finalists at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis and Moon Gravy – will play with more bands being added.
The Oskar Blues CAN’d Aid Foundation is a public nonprofit charity dedicated to giving back and making a difference in communities across the country. Formed as an immediate response to the devastating 2013 floods in Colorado, CAN’d Aid distributed $650,000 to flood affected businesses and families and continues to work directly with the Town of Lyons to help rebuild. In addition to flood recovery, the foundation funds grassroots grants in “Tunes” – music makes is better, “Treads & Trails” – we love bikes, “Love Yer Mama” – protect the planet and “Total CANarchy” – anything goes.
CAN’d Aid will partner with two local charities, Reno Rebuild Project & Reno Blues Society, to maximize the impact of the fundraiser. The evening will feature a 50/50 raffle as well as raffle prizes from the Reno Aces & Oskar Blues Brewery.
The Reno Blues Society supports, promotes and educates blues music in the community with a mission “To increase awareness of the culture, history and diversity of Blues Music through education and participation in community events.”
Helping to rebuild Reno one nickel at a time! The Reno Rebuild Project was started by business partners and former classmates Michael Connolly, Chris Kahl, and Zachary Cage in 2012. The partners, who run several local Reno businesses, have committed to help donate, along with several other local businesses, to the Reno Rebuild Fund. This fund then helps aspiring entrepreneurs launch their own businesses. The Rebuild loans are low-interest, shot-term loans with the proceeds going back into the fund to be re-loaned again and again.
