Try these first before you get too drunk to taste the difference between craft beer and Coors
If you haven’t gotten tickets to attend Beer Fest, put on by University of Nevada, Reno’s Young Alumni, then scroll to the bottom and do it now before you go any further, it’s okay, I’ll wait. Okay good, you’re ready to check out the veritable whose-who of Beer Fest with a complete list and some highlights (in alphabetical oder. Nevada producers in red).
- Archies
- Common Cider: A bunch of Reno boys moved to California to brew cider. Among them you may find Hibiscus Saison, Lemon Saison, Peery Cider, Blood Orange Cider and Apple Cider. These ciders tend toward the much sweeter side but are very light and summery.
- Boulder
- Grand Teton
- Black Diamond
- Fullers
- Hacker-Pschorr
- Brewing Lair: Out of Blairsden, Calif., these guys like to play along in Reno’s reindeer games. We hope they bring the Incognito Saison for its use of various hops, yeast and apple flavors.
- Eeel River
- Left Coast
- Battle Born Beer
- BJ’s Restaurant and Brewery
- Brewer’s Cabinet: BC has gone through a lot of change in the last year, so if you haven’t visited them in a while, now is the time to see what they’ve been up to.
- Brew Brothers
- Bully’s
- Crown Beverage
- Big Sky
- Woodchuck
- Lost Coast
- Indian Wells
- Tenaya Creek
- Ruhstaller
- Flowing Tide
- Great Basin
- Lagunitas
- Alaskan
- High Sierra Brewing: A tumultuous month for High Sierra Brewing. Be sure to support their move to Reno by tasting the gold medal winning Buzzed Bee Honey Ale.
- Sam Adams
- Widmer
- Kona
- Miller/Coors
- Crispin
- Hangar 24
- Mammoth
- Rail City Ale House
- Sierra Nevada Brewing
- Speakeasy
- Kronenburg
- Crabbies
- Corona Light Craft
- Newcastle
- Heineken
- Estrella
- Checkbar
- Wider Cider
- Vermont Hard Cider
- Oskbar Blues: The newest arrival to Nevada from Colorado and sold out very quickly. Grab a can and chug it.
- Uinta: This brewery out of Utah has gained popularity over the years and is now served on tap in Public House. See what all the fuss is about and try their beers out (they are above 3.6% ABV too).
- Stiegl
- Original Sin
- Under the Rose Brewing: If you want to know what real British beers taste like without going to the United Kingdom, stop by the Under the Rose Brewing table for some good drinkable beers. I’m partial to the porterbeer myself.
- Seven Troughs Distilling: Sparks distillery will be the only spirit at the event this year so if you haven’t tried Recession Proof (80 proof) or Barrel Proof Moonshine (unproofed, 125-proof), now is your chance.
- Knee Deep Brewing: A storied history starting out graduating from UNR then contract brewing at Mt. Tallac Brewing Company and now they have their own place in Auburn, Calif. Knee Deep Brewing evolves every year, so check out the newest phase. The question is, what are they knee deep in?
Check out the awesome fun everyone was having last year.
